Review Canon EW-78BII Lens Hood + 72mm UV Filter + CapKeeper 2 Lens Cap Strap + Deluxe 6-Piece Lens Cleaning Kit for Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens

Buy Cheap Canon EW-78BII Lens Hood + 72mm UV Filter + CapKeeper 2 Lens Cap Strap + Deluxe 6-Piece Lens Cleaning Kit for Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens From Here Now!

Kit includes:

♦ 1) Canon EW-78BII Lens Hood for EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS

♦ 2) Vivitar 72mm UV Glass Filter

♦ 3) Precision Design Deluxe 6 Piece Lens & Digital SLR Cleaning Kit

♦ 4) CapKeeper 2 Lens Cap Strap

The Canon EW-78BII Lens Hood is primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens. In addition, since the end of the lens is extended, you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact. Dedicated lens hoods, such as the Canon EW-78BII, are designed to match the specific focal length of the lens it was designed for.

This Vivitar UV Filter is a multi-purpose, fine-weather filter that is designed to optimize your photography experience. UV filters block out

unwanted ultraviolet light and prevents the UV "fogging/haze" effect", which can result in inaccurate color and lower the apparent sharpness. This filter is

also ideal for protecting your valuable lens from scratches and dust, and it can be kept on the lens at all times. Perfect for digital, video and photo.

Keep your lens cap securely attached to your lens with the convenient, simple-to-use CapKeeper. Never lose a lens cap again!

This 6-piece cleaning kit contains everything you'll ever need to properly clean your lenses, including a Hurricane Air Blower, Lens Cleaning Tissues, Lens Cloth, Lens Cleaning Liquid, Brush and Cotton Swabs.

 "Nice Kit" 2009-04-08
By David Adams (Arlington, TX USA)
I bought the kit for the lens hood and the filter. Both are excellent. The cleaning kit is nice and the lens cap strap is ok. Very good deal for the hood and the filter.

 "Pretty good" 2008-10-21
By J. Hewes
The hood and filter are great, exactly what I expected. The cleaning kit does feel cheap. The air ball (or grenade as I call it) works well. The brush is less than great though. I got a nikon lens cleaning pen too and it makes up for that. I would say, worth it.

You get what you pay for.The Tiffen UV filter is marginal but the price of this kit is less then the price of the Canon lens hood alone. The cleaning set is cheap crap but the dust blower works OK.

"good price for the hood" 2008-03-08
By R. Choi (Philadelphia, PA, USA)
If you want this packet mostly because of the hood, it may or may not be worth it for you. The hood keeper is cheap and just sticks onto your cap. If you have a long lens, beware, the elastic may not be long enough! the cleaner kit leaves something to be desired but does work.

All in all, worth it if you need the UV filter and hood, but don't expect too much from the hood keeper or the cleaning kit.

Canon EF 135mm f/2.8 with Softfocus Telephoto Lens for Canon SLR Cameras

Review Canon EF 135mm f/2.8 with Softfocus Telephoto Lens for Canon SLR Cameras

Buy Cheap Canon EF 135mm f/2.8 with Softfocus Telephoto Lens for Canon SLR Cameras From Here Now!

A unique, compact telephoto lens that gives the choice of razor-sharp images, or with the twist of a ring, two degrees of soft focus. It works by applying "softness over sharpness," using deliberate spherical aberration on top of a sharp "core" image at apertures from f/2.8 thru 5.6; images taken at apertures smaller than f/5.6 are always sharp. Autofocus continues to function, with or without the soft focus in use. This lens is an ideal addition to a portrait or scenic photographers arsenal. A perfect combination with an EOS Digital SLR, with the camera enabling review of soft focus effect on the LCD monitor.

 "Great optics" 2009-03-01
By Luving it (Seaside, CA USA)
Great IQ even wide open at 2.8! Soft focus is fantastic. I only use SF between 0-1, over 1 is too blurry to me. If you believe PS can produce the same effect, good for you. I happen to believe the SF effect from this lens is far more richer and attractive. I use it on both Canon 350D and 40D. The old fashioned AF is in the same league as Tamron and Tokina. I shoot people and flower and everything else that happen to fit into the 135mm view finder. The results are fantastic! Only wish it has better macro capability! The closest focus distance is a bit long in some of the real world applications.

 "Canon 135mm f/2.8 lens" 2009-01-26
By C. Hunt (Brook Park, Ohio)
Needed a Canon 135mm lens. The choice was the 135mm f/2 L lens or the 135mm f/2.8 lens with soft focus. Can't compare this lens with the L lens optically but weight is a lot less and the price a lot less even more so.

I am able to get very good results wide open at f/2.8. I don't use the soft focus feature. I am pleased with this lens.

"A very fun and good lense" 2008-10-17
By Lam Phung (Orlando, FL)
I am an amateur photographer using this lense on a Canon 40D to take portraits or anything that requires some reach. The lense is light, which I love, since I can carry it with me everyday. The built is solid and more than well enough to hold up with my use- lots of tossing in the bookbag type of handling.

The lense autofocus (AF)is from the older generation of AF by Canon. It makes this cool, sharp, and distinct wirring sound that isn't too lound that I like. All my other Canon lenses are just plain quiet and I do miss that mechanical buzzing of things that actually moves. The manual focus is disable whenever the autofocus is turned on. For my usage, which is casual everyday multipurpose photo snapping that includes some wildlife, candid, low light, and photojournal photography, the autofocus is more than fast enough. For low light situation, I have used this lense indoor during the evening with decent lighting and it performs fine. So far, I have not encountered any flaring or optical aberrations that catch my attention as an amateur photographer.

As for sharpness, contrast and image quality, I find the lense very good. I can't tell the differences between this lense and my 70-200 f/4L IS. Of course, I am not a pixel maniac, so I can't tell the differences if any exist. If you need or want a high performance 135mm lense, then perhaps you should look more into the 135mm f/2L lense that Canon has. That seems to be the most popular choice for people when they talk about 135mm lense. However, if your need is a consumer level 135mm lense, then this lense is the one.

Finally for the highlight of this lense. Its unique, and best feature of soft focus put it in a class of its own. Soft focus allows the photographer to soften an otherwise very sharp image into that glamorous superstar type of shot that looks very good for facial portraits and creative uses. With some side lighting or back lighting, I get to have a lot of fun with glamor photography through the use of soft focus; it is a wonderfully fun lense, and I am so glad to have one. No other Canon lenses on the market can do what this lense does, and I think that other makers such as Nikon don't even have it in their lineup, with the exception of a very few makers such as Pentax. When the soft focus is turned off, it is a sharp, sharp little lense. Of course, I am aware that through graphic programs like Photoshop, one can try to mimic what this lense can do in post processing, but it isn't the same. It will also take some work to imitate the effect.

For its versatility of functionality, creativity, and value in prices. I rate this lense top notch!

"Wanted to love it, but... " 2008-09-08
By M. Scott (Philadelphia, PA)
I bought this lens based on the reviews that I read here. I shoot weddings in a professional context, and own both L and non-L lenses, including the 50mm 1.4 and the 85mm 1.8 that are in a similar price bracket.

I really wanted this lens to be great, because a light, 135mm 2.8 lens that was sharp would mean that I could hand-hold in situations that I couldn't with a 70-200 f4, or even a 70-200 f2.8. Unfortunately, I can't give it a good review.

I found this lens to be far from sharp, it was not contrasty like the 50mm 1.4 or 85 1.8, and it did not work well with my 40D's white balance - all the photographs taken through this lens looked reddish and too dark. It is light and it is a 2.8, so if you want the focal length for casual shots and if the fact that the image quality is not up to a pro's standards doesn't matter so much to you, then definitely go for it. But if you are purchasing this lens because you think it will produce really good photographs, you're in for a let-down.

If I can get my hands on another version of the lens (in case mine was a defective one), I'll update this review.

"Great camera for wildlife and birds in flight" 2010-02-25
By David C. Stephens (Colorado)
I own both the 7D and the 5D MkII. The 5D2 excells at high IQ and great high-ISO performance and the 7D excells at fast focus, bringing the subject closer and getting off bursts of images at high frame rates. Both are very fine all around cameras, but the 7D helps you by filling its viewfinder with a larger image, locking on focus quicker and allowing a much faster burst rate. I've been somewhat amazed at the 7D's perfomance at ISO 6400, but find it second to the 5D2 at ISOs of 1600 and 3200. Below ISO 800 the two perform very closely, but the difference is more noticeable in that 1600-3200 band. Hey, at least we're not talking about shooting birds in flight at ASA 50!

The build quality is at the tank level. I've had it out in rain and snow and temperatures as low as -15F. I really like that the 7D and 5D2 share the same battery, so by keeping a charged battery in each body and a spare, I'm never short of power. I often take 1000 images in a day with the 7D and always have plenty of reserves (I hardly ever use Live View). The control layout is slightly improved over the 5D2, with the video operation being much more intuitive.

I'd suggest that anyone having IQ trouble with the 7D make sure that they check their micro-focus adjustment and fine tune it to their particular lenses. There is quite a range of potential adjustment, which might explain the trouble that a few seem to be having. (Mine required no micor-adjustment).

 "Almost perfect camera" 2010-02-20
By Helen M. Dalton (Woodside, CA USA)
Alright, so I'm not going to go into great detail to why I love this camera. I'll keep it true and short.

My previous camera was the Canon XTi, I loved (and still do love) that camera. As soon as I turned on the LCD to my 7D I was in shock! It's so clear, and the colors from it are incredible. The 7D's LCD is beautiful! <3 It's also built like a tank. I feel secure when little kids ask me if they can take a picture with it now! XD I just tell them to make sure the wear the strap. ;) lol Battery life is WAY better. The 8 FPS is really useful. More useful than I had originally thought. (I do a lot of sports.) Video is great! The built in speaker is...okay, buy the Rode directional mic ($150 bucks,i think) If you'll be doing a lot of video, like me. Okay so now the ISO. It's better than the XTi that's for sure. But, one thing you should know about the this camera is it has a noise reduction feature built into the camera. So It's really not a problem. I take photos in ISO 1000-1600 regularly. You don't really notice the noise until you blowup the image to about 150% It's really not a problem. Just make sure you have the High ISO noise reduction feature enabled. And really, if the picture that you took is that bad that all you notice is the noise, you should really should try to hone your photography skills before buying this camera. The only thing I don't like about the camera is the 18mp. It's really too much on a little 1.6 crop factor camera. 10.mp is perfect for a DSLR. But that's really it. I will never print a picture that big. The biggest I've ever gotten is 8X10. And that's still kinda small.

Okay, that's my review. I suggest this camera to everyone that asks me what camera they should get. So buy it now!...no really, you'll be glad you did.

"Does the 7D worth the extra $900 bucks compared with the 2010 Rebel T2i?" 2010-02-12
By K. Leon (DC, USA)
I really like my 7D and its pro-features but the 2010 Rebel T2i is giving me second thoughts Canon EOS Rebel T2i 18 MP CMOS APS-C Digital SLR Camera with 3.0-Inch LCD (Body Only)

Here's a comparison between the 7D and the Rebel T2i.

Both cameras have the SAME features sbelow uch as:

- 18.0 Megapixel CMOS sensor

- ISO 100-6400 (expandable to 12800)

- 63-zone, Dual-layer metering system

- Full HD movie capabilities

However the Rebel T2i OUTPERFORMS the 7D in few things:

- LCD monitor (1.04 million dots versus the 7D 0.92 million dots)

- Weight (18.7 oz./530g versus the 7D 28.9 oz./820g)

DOES ONE NEED TO PAY $900 BUCKS MORE FOR THESE 7D EXTRA-FEATURES?

- Built-in Speedlite Transmitter (useful if you shoot at a studio)

- Magnesium dust/weather-resistant body (the Rebel is steel body with less sealing)

- 19-point AF system versus 9-point in the Rebel (I have a 50D with the 9 AF system and it's hard to tell if the 10 extra AF points in the 7D make a difference)

- 100% viewfinder versus 95% in the Rebel

- 8 frames per second versus the Rebel 4 frames per second -the 7D has 2 image processors (unless you shoot sports you can't really see the value of this)

- Shutter durability. The 7D has 150,000 versus the Rebel 100,000. But how many shots would you take in a year? I take about 25,000 a year which is a lot. That means that I'd have shutter for about 4 years in the Rebel and 5 years in the 7D. The question then is how many years until this camera is dated? the Canon lifecycle is about 2 to 3 years. Indeed, the 50D was released on October 2008 and there is a new 60D expected for May 2010.

MMM... I'm not totally convinced that the 7D is worth the nine hundred extra bucks.

I'd have given four stars to the 7D -but because its value for the money I'm giving just two stars.

"Outstanding camera, a bit pricey" 2010-02-11

 "Totally Awesome" 2010-02-03
By J. GRISSOM (Billings, MT USA)
Love everything about it. The sheer volume of functions and capabilities is a little overwhelming at first but after spending some time with the camera and a good book about it, you'll be taking great pictures in no time. It makes great movies too! Just beware that the internal mic will record the sounds of the focus and zoom so you'll want to invest in an external mic. Also, the autofocus really doesn't work in movie mode but I haven't found using the manual focus in movie mode to be an issue. Buy it, you'll love it.

 "Love this Camera!" 2010-02-25
By S. Mills (Mountain House, CA)
I'm seriously just a beginner. So If you know a lot about a camera, this might not be the review for you. For me, as a beginner, this is an amazing camera. It's taken beautiful pictures. My only suggestion to someone buying this camera who doesnt know about camera, would be to buy a canon 50d book with it. The manual is a little hard to read. Now that I'm getting used to all the functions, I'm just ammazed at what it can do. I couldnt be more pleased with this purchase!

 "Good Move" 2010-02-24

As usual your service was as expected. The camera is more than I expected. I also have a Canon 10D and this represent a huge advance over it. Go Canon!!

 "Excellent Overall" 2010-02-22
By L. Mindestrom (Minnesota)
I have been using my Canon 50D since August and I must say it is fantastic. It takes incredible pictures and is fairly easy to learn to use, considering it is an SLR. the lenses can be replaced with ease, and the camera itself is very sturdy and well-built. My one complaint would be that it is quite heavy, though this is to be expected with a camera of this type. I would highly recommend this camera to serious amateur photographers who are considering a high quality SLR with all the bells and whistles.

"So glad I moved from 35mm to the Canon 50d" 2010-02-22
By Fritz (Michigan)
For years I had been shooting the Canon Elan IIe and was very happy with it. I never planned on going digital, I always felt like a photography purist by not doing a bunch of post production in Photoshop, but baby #3 came July 2009, film/development was getting out of hand, and I'm not quite good enough to get the perfect picture on the first shot so I gave in to the flexibility of digital photography. The 50d was an outstanding way to break into DSLR cameras. I love this camera, it's been nothing but a god send. Durable, reliable, tons of functions and customizations (half of which I haven't even figured out yet). Picture quality is excellent and the 28-135mm lens is highly versatile. There are many other in depth reviews out there regarding this camera so I am going to save us both some time and be brief. I just wanted to put my 2 cents in and say that this is a great camera that I have been very happy with. For comparison, I would consider myself a serious photography hobbyist.

 "50D as a Pro tool" 2010-02-21
By Digiphotoshop (USA, Texas)
A DSLR can provide a lot of benefits over a simple point and shoot camera. With a DSLR, you'll get faster shooting speeds, better optics (and therefore a better quality picture), the ability to change lenses for ultimate flexibility, complete control over image exposure, sharpness, other image quality settings and a lot more.

Like many products, there are entry-level DSLRs, professional-grade D-SLRs, and plenty of models in between. Canon's 50D blurs the line between amateur and professional D-SLR cameras. This camera strikes a good balance with its price and feature set. With the 50D, you get a lot of features you wouldn't find on entry-level models such as Superior burst speed 6.3fps, weather sealed body, All nine autofocus points on the 50D are of the cross type variety, while on the T1i / 500D, only the center one is, Maximum shutter speed of 1/8000s, White balance in Kelvin, The viewfinder in the 50D uses a pentaprism while a pentamirror is used for the viewfinder in the 500D. Pentaprism viewfinders give a brighter and larger image compared to pentamirror types. But you won't pay professional-grade prices. Users who are just making the jump to a DSLR, for example will appreciate the 50D's Live View mode, which lets you use the DSLR's LCD to frame an image, similar to the way you would frame an image using a point and shoot camera. For more advanced shooters, the 50D also has full manual controls to give you all the traditional adjustments in image staging for your photographs.

Buy Cheap Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS [Image Stabilizer] USM Lens + UV Filter + Accessory Kit for Rebel XS, XSi, T1i, EOS 40D & 50D, 5D, 7D Digital SLR Cameras From Here Now!

Kit includes:

♦ 1) Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Autofocus Zoom Lens

♦ 2) Precision Design EW-78BII Lens Hood

♦ 3) Vivitar 72mm UV Filter

♦ 4) LensPen Lens Cleaning System

♦ 5) Precision Design Deluxe 6 Piece Lens & Digital SLR Cleaning Kit

The Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Autofocus Lens is a standard zoom lens with high optical performance. This lens has an Image Stabilizer and high zoom ratio. With the Image Stabilizer turned on, you can obtain sharp, natural-looking pictures in dim lighting without using flash or a tripod. Very handy for places where flash is prohibited. Uses ring-type USM for swift, silent autofocus and full-time manual focus.

NOTE ON PACKAGING: This 28-135mm lens was originally packaged with a Canon Digital SLR Camera & Lens Kit, and never included its own outer box. It still includes ALL original accessories (the Canon Full Warranty Card, Instruction Manuals and Lens Caps). This lens is all BRAND NEW and has NEVER been used.

The Precision Design EW-78B II Lens Hood is designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens. In addition, you also get the added benefit of extra protection from accidental impact.

The Vivitar UV Filter blocks out unwanted ultraviolet light and prevents the UV "fogging/haze" effect, which can result in inaccurate color and lower the apparent sharpness. This filter is also ideal for protecting your valuable lens from scratches and dust.

The unique design of the Original Lenspen utilizes a retractable soft brush that sweeps dust and loose particles away from the glass, and a special dry cleaning compound that gently removes fingerprints and spots.

This 6-piece cleaning kit contains a Hurricane Air Blower, Lens Cleaning Tissues, Lens Cloth, Lens Cleaning Liquid, Brush and Cotton Swabs.

Opteka EW-78BII Lens Hood for Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS SLR Lens

Review Opteka EW-78BII Lens Hood for Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS SLR Lens

Buy Cheap Opteka EW-78BII Lens Hood for Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS SLR Lens From Here Now!

The addition of a lens hood can help prevent flares--those circles of light that can accompany images where a strong light source is just outside the fame. These type of lens flares occur when indirect light rays pass through the front lens elements but don't make it all the way through to the image sensor. Opteka's EW-78BII Lens Hood is designed for the Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS SLR Lens.
Lens hoods are primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens. In addition, since the end of the lens is extended, you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact. This dedicated lens hood is designed to match the specific focal length of the lens it was designed for.

 "Solid and well-fitting" 2010-01-09
By Pep (Ann Arbor, MI United States)
I was a little hesitant to buy this because I didn't know how solid the construction would be, but I was very pleased when it arrived. It appears to be very sturdy and it screwed easily on to my Canon 28-135 mm lens. I would buy Opteka hoods for my other lenses.

 "Why buy the Canon?" 2009-11-03
By Campin' Cowpoke (Allen, Texas United States)
The Opteka is more than sturdy enough and appears to do the job of shielding the lens from ambient light. As another reviewer pointed out, there is a small gap on one side, but it won't affect image quality.
